BIOTURF was founded in 2018 by Christian LaCarte of Scott County, IA. After graduating from Western Illinois University and working as a seasonal naturalist, Christian quickly realized that there was a desperate need for natural lawn care approaches which could replace your traditional concepts to lawn care.

BIOTURF was created as a natural lawn care business that focuses on creating a healthy soil microbiome. Meaning we aim for a diverse, balanced, and highly functional community of microorganisms living in the soil- allowing your turf and gardens to flourish. To accomplish a healthy soil microbiome we utilize natural lawn solutions such as; compost, soil amendments, natural weed killers, and other lawn maintenance methods. BIOTURF prioritizes service excellence, dependability, reliability, and communication to our valued customers. BIOTURF looks to be the pioneer & leader for natural lawn practices in Iowa/Illinois and will strive to make healthier lawns for family, friends, and community. Founder and Director
Christian is an outdoor enthusiast whose passion is environmental sustainability and education. He graduated from Western Illinois University with a BS in Recreation and Park Administration and is a long time resident of the Quad City Area. Christian's passion is seeking innovative natural lawn solutions & up-to-date sustainable practices when it comes to lawn care.
Austin LaCarte
Operations Manager
Austin is a lawn care enthusiast with an extensive experience in service excellence. He joined BIOTURF in the spring of 2020 and launched the Iowa City service area. He is passionate about the new electric lawn care technology and eco-friendly lawn care products available on the market. Austin graduated from The University of Iowa in 2012 with a BS in Health Studies and has resided in the Iowa City area since 2008.
